About Southview Guest House

Southview was originally built as a family home in 1844 for Thomas Swainson, a local businessman. It became a guest house over 100 years ago but more recently it has been extended and modernised to provide 10 quality en-suite bedrooms. Southview is one of the few private guesthouses that has its own indoor heated swimming pool available to residents only. In addition to our pool, Southview has a residents bar offering a selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Southview has 10 en-suite bedrooms; all with a flat screen TV & DVD and free Wi-Fi. The range of rooms available includes a single, two classic doubles and a classic twin. In addition, there are six more luxurious superior rooms, three with spa baths and two with body-jet showers and one larger contemporary four-poster room. There is also an informal residents lounge and bar and a south-facing patio next to the pool area for those long summer afternoons. The breakfast room includes a conservatory area with tables that enjoy the morning sun. We offer both traditional and varied breakfast choices which include a full English breakfast, fish or vegetarian options, a never ending supply of fresh coffee and a variety of teas. We also have an extensive cold buffet offering fruit juices, cereals, preserves, yogurts and fresh fruit salad or compote etc.

Regrettably we do not have the facilities to cater for young children. We also do not accept pets of any kind (except guide dogs). Please note that all accommodation at Southview is accessed by stairs only, there aren’t any lifts or escalators.
