BY CAR: From the M6, the most direct route here is from junction 36. From there, pick up the A590 (signposted for Kendal) which then turns into the A591 - Follow the signs for Windermere. When you arrive at the outskirts of Windermere, you need to turn left at the junction, sign-posted for Windermere town centre. It is a big junction with a Natwest bank on the far corner, and the train station and Tourist info near one.

Cross Street is then a quick second on the left. Look out for a Chinese restaurant called the 'Golden Mountain' on the corner of Cross Street. If you miss the turn, you will need to follow the one-way system right around the village centre and back to the large junction by the Natwest Bank and start again. Cross Street is a cul de sac and you will find us right at the end, tucked in on the left.

BY TRAIN: Come out of the railway station, turn left and proceed towards the tourist information of the corner. Turn left here towards the town centre. Cross Street is 2nd turning on the left;proceed to the end of this road about 100m.

General Terms

Please read the following carefully as there are changes to our normal procedures because of the impact of Corona virus. For more detailed information, please refer to the "safe stay" section on our website.

How to reserve a room:

For all direct bookings, a deposit of £50 will be charged at the time of booking. We will send you an email confirming the booking and let you know what the outstanding balance will be. Your booking is only valid on the successful payment of a deposit.

Balance:

An invoice for the remaining balance will be emailed to you shortly before arrival to advise you that the balance of your stay will be charged to allow for a contactless check-in. We accept card or BACS payments – however the BACS process must be completed before arrival.

Cancellation/Curtailment and Insurance:

Upon making your booking, we enter into a legal agreement. Cancellations with more than 7 days’ notice, will be fully refundable. Customers who cancel with less than 7 days’ notice, or are a no show, are liable to pay for the booking in full. We would recommend that you take out cancellation insurance to cover any such costs.

Car Parking:

Use of the Southview car park is free. We are fortunate in Windermere that we can offer one parking space for each room but double parking is sometimes required during busy periods. However, as we are currently unable to move guests’ cars, we may not be able to accommodate everyone. Please be advised that you may need to park elsewhere in the village.Also, please note that cars are parked entirely at your own risk and Southview Guest House does not accept any liability for damage or loss while the car is parked. Please don't park in front in front of the garages as they don't belong to Southview.

NON Smoking Policy:

We are an entirely NON SMOKING establishment and smoking is not permitted anywhere within the building. Designated smoking areas are provided with ashtrays for guest use outside. Any guests found having smoked in their rooms will automatically be charged a £100.00 cleaning fee on your debit/credit card.

Check in/out:

Your accommodation will be available to you from 4pm on the day of arrival, unless otherwise arranged. If you are going to arrive after 8pm, please let us know. Similarly checkout is at 10.30am unless otherwise arranged. Late check-out and early check-in are temporarily unavailable.

Breakfast:

Breakfast is included and is currently a continental style breakfast served to your room between 8:00 and 9:30am only.

Damages and Breakages:

Please take care with our accommodation. You are responsible and liable for any breakages or damages which you cause to the accommodation or its contents. Please report any damage as soon as it occurs. We do not normally charge for minor accidental breakages, but we may charge you for the full cost to repair or make good if the damage or breakage is significant or caused by misuse.

Children & Pets:

We do not have the appropriate facilities for young children. We do not accept pets of any kind except guide dogs.

Non-availability:

We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to help you find alternative accommodation or offer postponement. However, if this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Liability:

We do not accept any liability for any damage, loss or injury to any member of your party or any vehicles or possessions, unless proven to be caused by a negligent act by ourselves or our employees or contractors whilst acting in the course of employment.

Data:

Any data gathered during the course of this booking may be held on computer.
